Easter....and Springtime!

Thought I'd post a few pictures of the kids in their Easter duds. We went to the sunrise service, so if they look half asleep, it's because they probably are. :O)

Hope you all had a wonderful Resurrection Day! And I hope you're all enjoying SPRING! Because, after all, it IS Spring.....isn't it? Not sure if you can see the picture clearly, but today, it is snowing to beat the band. :O)

Job 37:5-6
God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.

A Good Day for Boating

This past Saturday was a great day for taking the boat out on the lake. It was fairly warm (although a bit nippy out on the water) but beautiful and sunny! We fished and fished. (didn't catch a thing) :O) BUT...the good thing is we all had fun. See? (Can you tell I was freezing?)

What's a kid to do?

Just what is a kid to do on a beautiful, sunny, spring-like day? I don't know about everybody else's kids, but mine got out the little one-man-raft-kind-of-a-thingie and floated across the pond. :O) Jacob was the first to brave the mighty waters....
Rachel nearly paddled herself to death.... :O)
And Katie enjoyed just chilling out while floating along...
Speaking of Katie, here are a few pictures of her with her "pet" rooster. She's been playing vet again. Two other roosters ganged up on him and nearly beat him to a pulp. So he's out of the pen now, living the good life...being petted and pampered at Katie's General Hospital. :O) I do believe she could nurse anything back to health.

Neato!

Ok...so I'm easily impressed. But this afternoon we were outside. We had just finished riding the 4-wheelers and I looked back over my shoulder to say something to Matt when "something" big in the sky caught my eye. I realized it was a blimp!! I don't know that I've ever seen one...much less one this close. And imagine seeing something like that way out here!! :O) It's just not everyday you see that kind of thing...so yeah...I was pretty excited. In fact, I was jumping up and down and hollering for the kids. Ok...so I live a sheltered life. :O)
Here's a little something that is brightening up the yard! It's so refreshing to see splashes of color after winter. Hope you're seeing stuff like this where you are!

A gorgeous...and very productive day!

Ah! Nothing like a bit of spring fever. We had a really nice day today. The weather was perfect! It was probably close to 70 degrees and we had a beautiful blue clear sky. It was a day for walking, hanging out the laundry (which I do everyday anyway :O) ), prepping the boat for spring and summer fun, riding the 4wheelers...
discing up the garden... fine-tuning it with the tiller...
(This was no easy task because the chickens were out running around at the time. They really enjoyed scratching around in that dirt!)
But because we almost lost a few chickens in a "tiller accident" we put them up! (These chickens have no fear!!)
What did we plant so early, you ask? We put out our cabbage and onions. This year we planted 3 different types of onions...Georgia Sweet, yellow, and purple. (And yes, you'll notice from the picture below that our garden rows are not perfectly straight. :O) We always "let" the kids help and since we've had kids, we've not had straight rows. But that's ok. The food is always just as good.)
We ate supper after we finished all the garden work, then laid down on the picnic table by the pond in the dark watching the stars and listening to the frogs croaking. :O) That's my idea of a good day. :O) Hope you and yours had just as nice a day as we had!

Spring is near!

Today was a beautiful, slightly-chilly-but-not-cold-day. One of the items on our to-do-list was to plant some fruit trees. We planted 2 semi-dwarf Bartlett pear trees and 2 semi-dwarf yellow delicious apple trees. Now if the fruit would just hurry!! :O)
